EMI is a training course that has been developed to help academic staff who teach their subjects through the medium of English to mostly non-native English learners.

The course draws on the latest research in the field of English as Medium of Instruction (EMI) and is delivered by very experienced trainers.


Degree courses in Europe are increasingly being taught in English, often where neither teacher nor students are native speakers. EMI has been specifically designed to improve the overall quality of academic teaching, by offering useful techniques for day-to-day teaching in lectures and seminars, and updating the language skills of lecturers.

  • 35-hour course delivered over five consecutive days (7 hours per day)
  • Designed for 10-14 lecturers from all academic disciplines with a minimum level of English B2 (ref. the Common European Framework of Reference).
  • Delivered at your institution in the teaching environment your staff is used to, without the additional expense of international travel and accommodation costs.
  • Course fees for courses taught at your institution are fixed for a group of up to 14 participants. 
  • The course fee includes all the materials and refreshments for the 5 days.
